Abstract
The use of diesel engines in Indonesia is very large, it is because supported by technology and human resources are increasing. In addition to diesel fuel is more competitive in comparison with fuel for gasoline engines. However, from some of the advantages of using diesel engines, each diesel combustion always produces emissions in the form of smoke. Smoke in the emissions of diesel engines can cause black color in the lungs so that the performance of respiratory organs interfere with them. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of HHO gas addition of 0,00156 l / min on the reduction of smoke concentration and fuel consumption added to the fuel combustion process of Solar and Pertamina DEX. The diesel engine is conditioned at 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 rpm. The result shows the decrease of smoke concentration at Solar burning that is 31,17% at 2000 rpm and Pertamina DEX 20,6% at 1500 rpm. The highest decline in fuel consumption when using the Solar is 28% at 1000 rpm, and Pertamina DEX 17,64% at 1000 rpm.
