Abstract

Nutrition is one of the important factors for determining the quality of human resources. Toddlers are a group of malnutrition. This age is still rapid brain growth. Lack of knowledge about nutrition will result in reduced ability to apply information everyday, it is a cause of malnutrition. Nutrition knowledge is knowledge of food and nutrients, sources of nutrients in food. This study aims to determine the relationship of parenting mother and mother knowledge about nutrition and nutritional status of children under five in Puskesmas Suko Probolinggo. This study used cross sectional approach, with a sampling technique using multistage sampling. This research was conducted in three places IHC contained in sub-district Puskesmas Suko District Maron Probolinggo.Research conducted in November 2016. The data was collected using a questionnaire involving 19 respondents including a toddler and his mother. Nutritional status obtained through measurement BB/U, parenting eat obtained from questionnaires filling meal parenting, maternal knowledge gained from the questionnaires mother's knowledge. The results showed that the majority of respondents have known that the nutritional status of respondents who have very thin nutritional status parenting eating less category as many as nine (64.3%) of respondents. Respondents who have very thin nutritional status with knowledge of mothers with enough category of 8(80.0%) of respondents. Based on bivariate analysis was done by Spearman rank correlation test results obtained, there is a significant association between parenting style meal with the nutritional status of children at p=0.003 (p<0.05) and there is a significant association between maternal knowledge about nutrition and nutritional status toddler at p=0.000 (p<0.05) In the village of Suko District of Maron Probolinggo.
