Abstract

In the family, mothers play a role as caretakers and food consumption regulators of family members, especially under two years old babies. There is a difference between working mothers and non-working mothers in taking care and managing the meal for their under two years old babies. This research aims to find out the relation between maternal employment status with the pattern of giving breast-milk (MP ASI), nutritional status, and under two years old babies’ motoric development at Puskesmas Kutakulon Kabupaten Bondowoso. This research is being conducted during May 2016 until November 2016 at working area of Puskesmas Kutakulon Kabupaten Bondowoso. The research methodology is Observational Method with Cross Sectional approach with population 116 under two years old babies. The sample size in this research is 53 under two years old babies with Cluster Random Sampling technique. The data on maternal employment status, pattern of giving MP ASI, and under two years old babies’ motoric development obtain directly through interview and filling out questionnaire. Under two years old babies’ nutritional data status obtains directly through anthropometric measurement with Z-Score calculation. Statistical analysis using SPSS 16 with Chi Square test. The result of the research is, there is correlation between maternal employment status with the pattern of giving MP ASI (age of giving MP ASI p = 0,020), (giving of MP ASI p = 0,019), (portion of MP ASI p = 0,045), (form of MP ASI p = 0,016), (frequency of feeding p = 0,019), (method of giving MP ASI p = 0,028), there is a correlation between maternal employment status with under two years old babies’ nutrient status (p = 0,033) and there is a correlation between maternal employment status with under two years old babies’ motoric development (p = 0,027).
