Abstract

This study aims to determine the relative weight and length of the broiler small intestine supplemented by â-glucan from Saccharomyces cerevisiae with banana weevil media in the feed. The study used a Cobb500TM broiler strain, BR1 feed (Patriot Feed) from PT Panca Patriot Prima, Saccharomyces cerevisiae from PT Sangra Ratu Boga with the trademark Fermipan®, and banana weevils from kepok banana. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The research treatments consisted of T0: control feed, T1: control feed + 25 ppm â-glucan, T2: control feed + 50 ppm â-glucan, T3: control feed + 75 ppm â-glucan, and T4: control feed + 100 ppm â-glucan. The research parameters observed were the relative weight of the duodenum, jejunum and ileum, as well as the relative lengths of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS ver. 16.0. The results showed that â-glucan supplementation from Saccharomyces cerevisiae with banana weevil media in the feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the relative weight of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, as well as the relative lengths of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum with the highest treatment value at T2 (control feed + 50 ppm â- glucan). The study concluded that â-glucan supplementation from Saccharomyces cerevisiae with banana weevil media in the feed obtained the best value at 50 ppm.
