Abstract

Many cases of poisoning or disease due to consumption of food security is not guaranteed, the application of the hygiene and sanitation are lacking and the use of hazardous chemicals.One of its media is the pocket book. The purpose of this study is able to determine the effect of a paperback book as a medium of education related to food handlers hygiene and sanitation in Jember Pujasera, This study isquasi-Experimental with the approach of one group pre-test and post-test. The number of subjects is 40 people. The technique used is purposive sampling. The results of the average pretest knowledge before being given a handbook that is 64.62. After getting pocketbooks average posttest results of knowledge that is 74.88. Statistical test results paired T-test p = 0.01 (p <0.05). It showed no effect of a paperback book knowledge Sanitation Hygiene and Food Additives for knowledge of food handlers in Pujasera Jember.
