Abstract

Nutritional status has become a significant factor which affect children’s health and growth. Good nutritional status can help to support optimal growth of the children. Adequate nutrients can enhance body’s endurance, therefore, expected to relieve from any disease where as inadequate nutrients can occur nutritional problems to children (Setyabudi, 2007). This study aims to examine the correlation mother’s knowledge and attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in kindergartens in Yosowilangun Lor village Lumajang Regency. This study employed Analytical Survey Research with Cross Sectional Design. The study was carried out on October 14-18, 2016 in Muslimat NU 01 Yosowilangun Lor Kindergarten, Dharma Wanita 01 Yosowilangun Lor Kindergarten and Dharma Wanita 02 Yosowilangun Lor Kindergarten. The collecting data applied questionnaire interview which asked by researcher to the respondents and provided the bathroom scale to measure children’s weight. This study involved 68 respondents. Based on bivariate analysis were tested statistically Somers’d test, the test of the correlation mother’s knowledge and attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in kindergartens Yosowilangun Lor village Lumajang Regency obtained by value p = 0.000 which shows the correlation of mother’s knowledge on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in kindergartens Yosowilangun Lor village Lumajang Regency. On the test of attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in kindergartens Yosowilangun Lor village Lumajang Regency obtained by value p = 0.000 shows that there is correlation attitudes on balanced nutrition with children’s nutritional status in kindergartens Yosowilangun Lor village Lumajang Regency.
