Abstract

Food consumption is all of foods and drinks that are consummated every day. The function of this research is to learn the level of energy consumption and nutrient substance (protein, fat, carbohydrate) for patients in A and B room at Kaliwates Jember Hospital. The method that the researcher used was descriptive. The researcher submitted the data for more about one month, started from December 2012 until January 2013 and took 24 samples from 30 until 40 patients by using quota sampling. The data that submitted included (age, gender, education, and job); food supply level of needs, consumption level of food supply, consumption level of needs, then these data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the correlation between energy consumption and nutrient intake there was no correlation (P> 0.05) with the nutritional status of patients Hepatitis A and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. To sum up, the hospital needs to make the food portion as standard for any kinds of diet. This thing has to be done in order that the food supply of energy and nutrient substance is served as the patient’s needs. Then, the hospital also should increase the patient’s food consumption that served by hospital by giving information and counseling to the patients in the treatment room.
