Abstract
The objective of this final project was to make a booklet as a promotional medium of megalithic culture of Duplang Site Kamal Jember in a bilingual version, Indonesian and English. The booklet contained information about the history of Duplang Site. The caretaker of Duplang site explained that the historical tourism of the Duplang site did not have promotional media, therefore the author offered to make promotional media in the form of booklet. The writer used seven procedure for making the booklet. They were determining the titles and subtitles, making a booklet format or structure, finding and collecting information needed as the contents of the booklet, processing information, arranging information according to the booklet format, designing and editing the booklet, and the last procedure is printing the booklet. The first procedure was determining the titles and subtitles. The titles were inspired by the tourist attractions and natural attractions of Duplang. The writer made several titles, then discussed them with the supervisor. As a result of the discussion, the writer decided to use the title “The Incredible Megalithic Sites of Duplang-Kamal”. After being explained in Indonesian, the caretaker responded was very pleasant and approved it to become the title of the booklet. The creation of format or structure was the second procedure in making a booklet. The format of booklet was divided into three parts: opening, body, and closing. The opening part consisted of front cover, foreword, and table of contents. The opening part was made in 3 pages. The body part consisted of history, the name of megalithic relic, the environment, facilities, activities, contact person, and location. This part was made in 12 pages. The closing part was consist of a back cover that containing the writer’s name and the board of examiners name. They are the supervisor’s name, the first examiner’s name, and the second examiner’s name. The closing part is also displayed the Logo of Politeknik Negeri Jember, Logo of Tourism office and the Copyright. This last part of the booklet was made in 1 page. A5 paper with a size of 15 x 21 cm was used to print the booket. The booklet used captivating typography and appealing designs with paper thinck quality. Finding and collecting data information for contents of the booklet was the third procedure in making a booklet. The writer employed four techniques to gather data for the booklet's contents. Namely methods observation, interviews, documents, and audiovisual materials. The fourth procedure was processing information. After compiling the accurate data, the writer proceeded by creating an initial Indonesian script. Following this, the writer made revisions to the Indonesian script based on feedback from the supervisor and the caretaker. In this step, the writer initially drafted the booklet in Indonesian to get feedback from the supervisor. Afterward, the writer revised the drafts based on the supervisor's suggestions. Once the revisions were completed, the writer provided the Indonesian-language script to the caretaker of the Duplang Site to verify the accuracy of the information. The fifth step was arranging information according to the booklet format and structure in making the booklet. The writer discussed about the format in the booklet with the editor. She collaborated with the editor to ensure that images and text were formatted and placed appropriately according to each section's requirements.The sixth procedure is designing and editing the booklet. The writer gave specific instructions about the template in the booklet to the editor to revise certain materials according to the script and booklet sections. Subsequently, the writer sought feedback from both the caretaker and the supervisor regarding the finalized version of the booklet. The final procedure was printing the booklet. The booklet accepted approval from both the supervisor and the caretaker was printed on A5 paper using captivating typography and appealing designs with paper thinck quality. The writer was printed the booklet in three copies that distributed to the caretaker of Duplang Sites, to the head of tourism at the tourism office and English Study Program Politeknik Negeri Jember.
