Abstract
from shrimp heads (crustaceans) on the physical quality of chicken eggs fed with chitin processing waste from shrimp heads in feed. This research was conducted from June to July 2023 at the Livestock Production Laboratory of Jember State Polytechnic and at Family Farm in Kaliurang Village, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with chitin processing waste from shrimp head extract with factors P0 (without the addition of chitin processing waste), P1 (addition of 0.1% chitin processing waste), P2 (addition of 0.2% chitin processing waste), P3 (addition of 0.3% chitin processing waste) as many as 40 chickens aged 74 weeks will be divided into 4 treatments with 5 replicates, each replicate consisting of 2 chickens. The parameters observed were egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, yolk color, shell thickness, and haugh unit. The data were analyzed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) if there were significant differences (P<0.05) between treatments. The results showed that the addition of chitin waste premix from shrimp heads had no significant effect (P>0.05) on egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, yolk color score, shell thickness, and haugh unit. The conclusion of this study is the effect of the addition of chitin waste premix from shrimp heads through feed up to 0.1% treatment produces physical quality values of chicken eggs that meet SNI standards.
