Abstract

Underweight occurs because energy intake is less than the body's needs. The occurrence of underweight in toddlers can be influenced by several factors. According to Novela & Kartika (2019) malnutrition is caused by food, infectious diseases, food security, childcare patterns, health services and environmental health. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between food security and the incidence of underweight in Kedung Caluk Village, Krejengan District, Probolinggo Regency. This type of research is an analytic descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The population in this study were mothers who had toddlers in Kedung Caluk Village as many as 254 mothers of toddlers. Data collection used puskesmas data, under-five weight measurements, HFIAS questionnaires and FCS questionnaires. Statistical analysis using SPSS 22.0 with Chi-Square correlation test. The results of this study showed that there was no relationship between food security and underweight status based on the HFIAS questionnaire (p-value = 0.615) and the FCS questionnaire (p-value = 0.839).
