Abstract
Diarrhea is defecation (BAB) with the consistency of liquid feces with a frequency >3 times a day. Diarrhea is one of the endemic diseases in Indonesia that also has the potential to become an Extraordinary Event and is usually often accompanied by death. The prevalence of diarrhea in 2019 was 182.338 (6,2%) children with diarrhea aged 5-14 years. Diarrhea mostly occurs as a result of microorganism infection and one of the factors causing diarrhea is a lack of knowledge about diarrhea. To increase children's knowledge at school by using learning media. One of the learning media that is currently developing is audiovisual media. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of audio-visual media on knowledge about diarrhea disease in elementary school children. This research is a quantitative study with a type of pre experimental design with a one group pre-test post-test design. The number of subjects in this study amounted to 52 people selected by total sampling technique. The results showed that elementary school children experienced an increase in knowledge from 64,579 to 84,202 after being given the intervention. These results indicate that audio-visual media is effective in increasing knowledge about diarrheal disease in elementary school children with a p-value = 0,000 <0,05.
