Abstract

Speaking is one of the central elements of communication. In speaking, someone is required to be able to use the spoken language very well to make other people or listener understand what the speaker said. To have a good speaking skill in learning english language esspecially, it is needed to learn English using certain strategy. People are free to choose any kinds of strategy to increase their English speaking skill. One of them is practicing debate. Practicing debate require them to speak more and it could help them develop their self-confident and their critical thinking. In fact, debate is already been applied by one of the student organizations in Politeknik Negeri Jember called UKM English Club. UKM English Club used debate as one of the strategy in improving the speaking skill of their members. UKM English Club is one of the student organizations in Politeknik Negeri Jember where it is an organization to support the training process in learning English. In English Club the member are trained to improve their English ability and make them learn English based on their own interest. English Club has three ways in inproving english skill and One of them is debate class. based on his observation. The writer found that the members of UKM English Club especially for debate class were difficult to understand the material in training process because of the video was from native speaker. So the writer decided to help the members of English Club in learning deabte by making a video tutorial of debate to give a clearer description and instruction about how to become a debater. To finish this project the writer used the writer used three steps that proposed by Colman (2015) they were set up, shooting, editing and sharing. Considering the content of the video the writer took the data by using three methods by following the theory of some expert. Those are obsevation by Djaelani (2003) observation is some activity to observe the place, activity and situation in that place to know what was happening. Documentation by Sugiyono (2013) who said that documentation can be text, picture ot monumentald creation of someone and audiovisual material by Cresswell (2009), audiovisual material is an activity to collect the data such as pictures or sounds that was done by the researcher. The video contained of materials and model of debate started from the preparation until the end of the debate process. It includes performance, attitude, manner and the way to make and to deliver the arguments in the debate. The duration of this tutorial video will be last for about 20 minutes because it focuses on three parts. The first part is opening. In this part, the writer introduce him self and explain the content will be about, the second is delivering the materials where the writer will explain about how to make a good argument and how to deliver it then the simulation of the debate process, and the last is closing which about conclusion and suggestion. In making the project the writer have some problems in finishing his final project such as time limitation, when the writer develop idea especially in making the script, he found the difficulties about choosing the resources as references in having the best script and the biggest problem was the writer confused when choosing theme for the video. Fortunately, the writer consulted it with his supervisors and she helped him to revise the product in order to get a better result. Moreover, by finishing this final project the writer have some suggestion for the students of English Study Program, For English Study Program Department, and the member of UKM E-Club Politeknik Negeri Jember. For the student of English Study Program who has passion and interest on speaking skill, the writer recommended to do the similar project to make tutorial video. It’s because making tutorial video is very challenging and could improve a lot of your skill. For English study program Department, they should give more attention to some courses, especially in writing and speaking because it’s very important for the students to do the final project. And for the members of UKM E_Club Politeknik Negeri Jember who want to learn how to become a debater, they could watch my tutorial video as references as the preparation.
