Abstract

This study attempts to examine the growth potential and yield of maize crops against the application of zigzag planting systems and NPK fertilizer applications. The research was conducted over 4 months from December 2016 until January 2017. Research was carried out in the agricultural land of Karangrejo Village, Sumber sari District, Jember Regency at the height of ± 89 m dpl. This study used factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 2 factors, 12 treatments and 3 repetitions, factor S (zigzag planting system) consisting of four levels namely 75 cm x 20 cm, 20 cm x 80 cm 20 cm, 25 cm x 75 cm x 25 cm, and 30 cm x 70 cm x 30 cm. Factor N (Application of NPK fertilizer) consists of 3 levels namely 100 gram / plot, 150 gram / plot and 200 gram / plot. Data analyzed using anova and then tested said use dmrt the economic situation of 5 percent. The results showed that the treatment of zigzag (S) planting system and NPK fertilizer application (N) gave no significant effect (ns) on parameters of plant height, leaf number, ear weight per plot, wet ear weight per sample, weight of dry cob per sample and weighs 100 seeds per plot. In addition, the treatment factor of the zigzag planting system had a significantly different effect (*) on the parameters of stover weight and had no significant effect (ns) on NPK fertilizer application. The treatment of zigzag planting systems with dry shelled weight parameters gave a very significant (**) different effect not significantly (ns) on NPK fertilizer application and gave a significantly different effect (*) on the interaction of the two treatment factors.
