Abstract

Wonokerto Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency is one of the new areas in the development of garlic. The sustainability of the garlic development program in this village is very dependent on the quality and sustainable supply of seeds. The need for garlic seedlings in this village ranges from 500 to 700 kg / hectare and until now the propagation of garlic plants still depends on vegetative propagation.One obstacle in vegetative propagation is the existence of a long period of seed dormancy, which ranges from six months after harvest. Therefore, there is an alternative to the adoption of adaptive technology in helping the dormancy breakdown process so that tubers can be available on time according to the needs of farmers.One technological solution that can be used is vernalization technology by storing seeds in cold temperatures ranging from 4-10 0C for two months. The service activities are held from May to November 2018 in Wonokerto Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo in collaboration with Agro Horti Mandiri Gapoktan. The implementation of community service activities has been carried out entirely up to the activities of technology dissemination and the application of technology on demonstration plot land and monitoring and evaluation activities. There is an increase in farmers 'knowledge related to vernalization technology that is suitable for farmers' partners. Vernalization technology allows for a more rapid acceleration of the germination process compared to without vernalization so that this technology is expected to be able to provide garlic seeds on an ongoing basis. There is an application of garlic cultivation in accordance with the SOP of garlic cultivation in the farmer partners that has been made by the service team.
