Abstract

Hypertension is a condition where a person's blood pressure is more than or equal to 140/90 mmHg after several examinations. Riskesdas 2018 data shows the prevalence of hypertension sufferers in Indonesia is 34,1%. Lumajang Regency has a hypertension prevalence of 29,7% in 2020. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge about hypertension diet, intake of fat, sodium, and potassium with blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Gucialit Health Center. This type of research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional study approach. The number of subjects used in this study were 46 hypertensive patients who were selected by simple random sampling technique. The data was tested by Chi Square analysis. The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire on hypertension knowledge level, a food photo book, and a food recall form 1x24 hours. The results showed that 71,7% of respondents had a good level of knowledge on hypertension diet, 65,2% had sufficient fat intake, 52,2% had sufficient sodium intake, 76,1% had less potassium intake, and 56,5% of respondents had hypertension grade I. The results of this study can be said that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of hypertension diet and blood pressure, fat intake and blood pressure, sodium intake and blood pressure, and there is no significant relationship between potassium intake and blood pressure.
