Abstract

The nutritional status of infants is affected by several factors, including the provision of complementary feeding and diarrhea. The provision of early complementary feeding can be increase risk of gastrointestinal infections such as diarrhea. The purpose of this research was to analyze the correlation patterns of giving early complementary feeding and diarrhea with nutritional status of infants aged 0-6 mounth in work area of district health center of Mumbulsari Jember. The design of this research used a retrospective case-control approaches. The population in this research were all infants aged 0-6 months were listed in the district health center Mumbulsari Jember. The taking of sample uses purposive sampling of respondents obtained 21 cases and 21 control respondents. The processing of the data uses Spearman rank and Chi Square test with credibillity 95% (α = 0.05). The result of the statistic test shows there is no correlation between early age complementary feeding and nutritional status (sig 0.580), frequency of complementary feeding and nutritional status (sig 0.762), diarrhea and nutritional status (sig 0.736), the frequency of occurrence of diarrhea and nutritional status (sig 0.775 ), complementary feeding early age with diarrhea (sig 0.925), frequency of complementary feeding with diarrhea (sig 0.741).
