Abstract
Dyslipidemia is a disorder of lipid metabolism. The main abnormalities in the lipid fraction were decreased levels of HDL cholesterol and increased levels of total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides. Steeping rosella with Dayak onions contains antioxidants in the form of flavonoids that can reduce LDL levels by inhibiting cholesterol absorption, increasing bile secretion and inhibiting the activity of the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme which plays a role in inhibiting cholesterol synthesis and acetyl CoA enzymes so that there is a decrease in cholesterol esterification in the liver and intestines. . The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of steeping rosella petals with Dayak onions on LDL levels in dyslipidemic white rats (wistar strains). This type of research is True Experimental with Pretest-Posttest with Control Group Design. The samples used were 27 male Wistar strain rats. Rats were divided into 3 groups, namely the negative control group (K-), the positive control group (K+) and the treatment group (P) which were carried out randomly. The treatment given was steeping rosella petals with Dayak onions at a dose of 10 ml/rat/day for 14 days. LDL levels were checked by the indirect method. Data were analyzed by Paired T-Test and Kruskal-Wallis tests and One Way Anova test. Statistical results showed that there were differences in LDL levels between groups before treatment (p=0.026), there were differences in LDL levels between groups after treatment (p=0.012), there were no differences in LDL levels in the treatment group (P) before and after treatment (p= 0.160), there was no difference in LDL levels before and after treatment (p=0.199). The conclusion of this study is that giving rosella petals steeped with dayak onions at a dose of 10 ml/rat/day has no effect on reducing LDL levels in dyslipidemic rats.
