Abstract

Translating An E-Book Entitled Software Engineering “A Practitioners Approach Seventh Edition” By Roger S Pressman, Rizqiyati Arrifiyah, F31161819, 22 Pages, Language, Communication and Tourism Department, English Study Program, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Fitri Wijayanti, S.Pd., M,Pd. (Supervisor) This is the report of the final project entitled “Translating an E-Book Entitled Software Engineering A Practitioners Approach Seventh Edition By Roger S Pressman”. The aim of this final project was to help IT department students understand the content of the book easily. To finish this final project the writer used the translation process by Nida and Taber (1982) that include analysis, transferring, and restructuring. In analysis process the writer read the whole text from source language, found the meaning of the difficult word and analyzed the grammatical relationship. To found the meaning of the difficult word the writer need to open the dictionary and search on the internet by reading journals and articles that related with the term from the source text. In transferring process these steps focus on finding the equivalent meaning from source language to target language. For the procedure the writer used some procedure of translation by Newmark (1988) there were transference, naturalization and shifts of transposition. In the restructuring process, the writer rechecks the result from the product then the writer asked a proofreader, the supervisor and the lecture of IT Department to correct the result from the product. This e-book contains the information about software engineering and the writer found some difficulties related with the terms from the IT Department. As the result, the writer could increase her new vocabularies and knowledge about Information Technology field. Then finally the writer conclude that conducting a translation project really beneficial for herself and for the textbook user. The writer could applied her translation, writing, and reading skill to finish the project. She believed that the knowledge that she got from translating this book will be useful for the writer’s future. Finally, the writer finished in translating the e-book entitled “Software Engineering a Practitioners Approach Seventh Edition by Roger S Pressman” (Chapter 1, Page 3-27) from English into Bahasa Indonesia. This product was given to Information Technology Department and they can used the result of this project in their lecturing and practicum class.
