Abstract

Having an eBook translated is common in Indonesia nowadays. The younger generation which is student reads the e-book using the reader app. The problem is the mistranslanslation is unavoidable especially for the sentence. The mistranslation has English basic skill as the main factor. Most student needs English basic skill because they lack of vocabulary. With vocabulary mastery, the student understands what they read in the book. Further, the student can practice their vocabulary such as writing notes, message etc but it takes a long time. The usage of translated e-book could save the student life especially the higher level education. The seeds development techniques lecturer from State Polytechnic of Jember applied the e-book entitled “Translating an e-book Entitled Seeds Physiology, Development and Dormancy Third Edition on (Chapter 6, page 247-295” as the reference for the material related to the seeds. Further, most seeds development technique of State Polytechnic of Jember student responds they had difficulties in reading the content of the e-book because it's written in the English language. In this final project, the writer did the translation method, procedures and process. The writer adapted the translation method by Newmark (1988). Next, the writer adapted the process of translation by Bathgate (1983) includes analysis, restructuring, checking, and discussion. Also, the writer procedure, the writer used the procedure by Vinay and Dalbelnet (2004). By conducting this final project, the writer can improve the translation skill. The report of this translation project will be available in Microsoft Word (docx) and PDF format. The hardcopy given the translation product to the lecturer of the seeds development techniques lecturer in the teaching and learning activity.
