Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the aspect ratio on the performance of the Darrieus type vertical wind turbine. The aspect ratio used is AR = 2 and AR = 1.5. Analysis of the data used in this study is to make direct observations and calculate the results of observations using several equations. The results showed that the highest rotational speed when the wind speed was 7.49 m/s obtained was 122 rpm with a TSR value of 0.85 W on a wind turbine AR = 2 . for a wind turbine with AR = 1.5 produces a turbine rotation speed of 100 rpm with a TSR of 0.8. The best Cl/Cd is found in the blade position of each variation of 30˚ with AoA 16.22˚ and 17.7 producing values of 2.82 and 2.89.
