Abstract
The growth of vanilla cuttings is influenced by external factors, namely the growing medium used. The planting medium serves as a place for plant roots to grow and obtain nutrients. The ideal planting medium is one that is able to provide sufficient nutrients and water so that plants can grow and develop properly. This study aims to determine the influence of various planting media compositions on the early growth of vanilla seedlings (Vanilla Planifolia Andrews). This research was carried out in October 2025-January 2026 at the Jember State Polytechnic Field Laboratory. The research method used in this study is using a non-factorial complete random design (RAK) using 4 treatments, including P1: Top Soil, Sand, Cocopeat, Goat Manure, Rice Husk Charcoal (1:1:1:1:2), P2: Top Soil, Sand, Cocopeat, Goat Manure Fertilizer, Rice Husk Charcoal (1:1:1:2:1), P3: Top Soil, Sand, Cocopeat, Goat Manure (1:1:1:2) and P4: Top Soil, Sand, cocopeat, charcoal rice husks (1:1:2:1). The study parameters were the percentage of finished cuttings, the length of shoots, the number of leaves and the volume of the roots. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the combination of different planting media is very real in terms of the parameters of shoot length and number of leaves, while in the parameters of the percentage of finished cuttings and different root volumes, it is not real. The treatment of P4 Top Soil, Sand, Cocopeat, Rice Husk Charcoal (1:1:2:1) showed the better results in the parameters of the percentage of cuttings to be 94.4%, bud length of 22.18 cm, number of leaves 6.67 strands and root volume of 6.03 ml.
