Abstract
Pest control in soybean cultivation generally still relies on chemical pesticides, which have negative impacts on the environment. The conventional light trap method has been used as an environmentally friendly alternative, yet it suffers from a high risk of theft in open fields. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smart Light Trap system using a Master-Slave architecture powered by the LoRa SX1278 communication module. This system integrates real-time physical security monitoring functions utilizing the GY-521 (MPU6050) sensor and applies a hybrid control system that combines local automation scheduled via the DS3231 RTC with remote manual control through a Telegram Bot platform. The research method employed is development research. The test results indicate that the GY-521 sensor is capable of detecting shocks, tilts, and device displacements, with a notification response time to Telegram of ±2 seconds on the Master unit and ±3 seconds on the Slave unit. The RTC-based automation testing demonstrates high accuracy, with an execution time discrepancy of only ±1 to ±3 seconds. The communication performance of the LoRa SX1278 is highly reliable under Line of Sight (LOS) conditions, reaching a distance of 200 meters with a 100% data transmission success rate. However, under Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) conditions with physical obstructions, the signal quality decreases, where the maximum stable range only reaches 175 meters with a 60% success rate. Overall, the Smart Light Trap system has been successfully implemented and is viable as an effective smart solution to assist in monitoring, pest control, and providing security protection for devices in soybean agricultural fields.
