Abstract
Analysis of Sustainable Product Development Using the Six Sigma (DMAIC) Approach at PT Trigatra Rajasa Situbondo Feby Q Syah Putri Dinata Program Studi Manajemen Agroindustri Jurusan Manajemen Agribisnis ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze quality control and sustainable product development based on mango waste at PT Trigatra Rajasa Situbondo using the Six Sigma (DMAIC) approach and the Zero Waste concept. The main problem faced by the company is the high number of rejected fruits, reaching 39,335.03 kg or 21.50% of the total production in 2025, which amounted to 182,932.66 kg. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collection carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was conducted using the DMAIC stages (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and the 3R approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The results show that the defect rate is 21.50%, with a Defect per Unit (DPU) value of 0.2150. The main factors causing defects are dirt (36.32%), pests (31.54%), and overripe/rotten conditions (24.94%). The analysis indicates that post-harvest handling and sorting processes are critical points in determining product quality. Improvement efforts were carried out through enhancing standard operating procedures, workforce training, and improving handling and storage systems. The implementation of the Zero Waste concept was conducted by utilizing rejected fruits into processed products such as mango dodol, as well as converting waste into organic fertilizer and animal feed. The integration of Six Sigma and Zero Waste methods has proven to improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and create added economic value. This study demonstrates that an integrated approach between quality control and waste utilization can support the development of a sustainable agro-industrial production system.
