Abstract

Ramie is a plant that has high economic value as a textile raw material. Ramie can be propagated using cuttings. This study aims to determine the effect of cutting length, cutting type, interaction of cutting length and cutting type on the growth of ramie clone Pujon 10. This study was conducted from October 2020 to January 2021 at the Research Institute for Sweeteners and Fibers in Malang, East Java. Using factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 4 replications. The first factor was the length of the cuttings 7 cm and 10 cm while the second factor was the type of shoot cuttings, middle stem and rootstock. Data were analyzed using ANOVA level 5% and 1%, further tested with DMRT level 5%. The results showed that the treatment of cuttings length had a very significant difference in the shoot length parameter, the length of cuttings was 10 cm with the highest average of 10.13 cm. The treatment of cuttings was significantly different to the growing cuttings, the treatment of rootstock, the highest average of 81%, the number of leaves aged 12 WAP, the treatment of the shoot type with the highest average of 42.92 strands, a very significant effect on the number of shoots of the rootstock treatment with an average the highest average was 1.63 shoots, shoot length was treated with shoot cuttings with the highest average being 10.71 cm, the number of roots gave the best value at 4 WAP and 12 WAP for shoot cuttings with the highest average being 27.38 and 66, 58 pieces, root length at age 4 WAP showed the highest average in shoot cuttings of 5.64 cm, number of leaves 4 WAP treatment with shoot cuttings with an average of 11.21 strands, plant height in middle stem type treatment with an average highest 66.44 cm. From the two treatments, there was no significant difference (ns) on all observation parameters. Key words: Length of cuttings, Ramie, Type of cuttings
