Abstract

In support increased production of corn in Indonesia, Karama (2004), argues that the policy of national commercial maize seed should be produced in Indonesia. But until now, the institutional resources and seed corn in the country is not yet a qualified agricultural producers a reliable and competitive. This study aims to determine the effect of the disposal of the male flowers (dataseling) and the spacing of the production of corn varieties Bisi 2. The research was conducted from November 2014-February 2015 at the Polytechnic of Jember experimental garden with altitude ± 89 m asl. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 faktor dan repeated 3 times. Factors that pertama yaitu disposal male relationship consisting of non-disposal male flowers (P0), pembuangan bunga jantan dengan jarak 1 plant (P1), dan pembuangan bunga jantan dengan jarak 2 plant (P2) .Faktor kedua adalah pengaturan terdiri atas jarak planting spacing of 70 x 20 cm (J1), a spacing of 60 x 20 cm (J2), and a spacing of 50 x 20 cm (J3). This study showed that male flowers disposal does not affect the production of corn while the spacing effect on weight of cobs per plot.
