Abstract

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is a tropical plant that has uses as a raw material for making sugar. As a plantation commodity, sugarcane has an important and strategic role in national development and improving the economy. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of planting material (Bud chips and bud sets) and the origin of the eye on the growth seedlings of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) Varieties PS 862. The research design used was a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 experimental factors the first factor is Planting Materials (Bud chips and bud sets) (A) with 2 levels and the second factor is the Origin of the Eye Layout (B) with 3 levels. So that there are 6 treatment combinations with 4 replications. If there is a significant difference, it will be tested further using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) level of 5%. The results obtained from the research that has been done can be concluded that the treatment that shows growth with a better tendency in the treatment of planting materials (bud chips and bud sets), namely in the treatment A2 (Bud set) results obtained significantly different from treatment A1 (Bud chips) on plant height parameters 98 HST. In the treatment of the origin of the eyes and the combination of treatment between planting material (bud chips and bud sets) and the origin of the eyes obtained results were not significantly different for all observations parameters.
