Abstract

Based on the study of HIV informed consent sheet, it was known that among 50 sheets of the informed consent that were analyzed, there were 17 sheets which were not filled completely. It is obvious by there was not name and signature written by patients or counselors. In filling it, patients were not only asked to sign informed consent sheets, but they were also given an explanation in detail concerning about the content of informed consent. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relations of patients' knowledge towards the completeness of HIV informed consent in Poly VCT RSD. dr Soebandi Jember. This study is an analytic research with a cross sectional design. The sample of research was HIV patients numbered 33 people. The processes of data collection used were a questionnaire and checklist. Statistical test using Spearmen's Rank Correlation test with α = 0.05 was found that there was significant relations between the patients’ knowledge level with completeness of informed consent in Poly VCT RSD. dr. Soebandi Jember with the correlative coefficient = 0.433. The Suggestions of this research that are the counselors in giving an explanation about HIV should use languages which are easily understood by patients, give training to the counselors in order to increase communication skills in giving an explanation about HIV to the patients, and for the next reserach, it is hoped to do a research concerning about factors that cause the knowledge level of patients so poor.
