Abstract
This research aims at determining the effect of the different between vertical and horizontal laying hatching egg to the hatchability of duck egg. This research was conducted experimentally and applied independent sample T-test paired comparison by giving two treatments an nine repetitions horizontally and vertically. The researcher used 270 hatching eggs which were broken down into 15 hatching eggs for every repetition. The result of the research showed that different of laying egg vertically and horizontally influence significantly (P>0,05) to the embryo mortality with percentage 32,43 % (vertical laying) and 23,46 % (horizontal laying. However, it dit not influence significantly (P<0,05) to the egg fertility and hatchability with percentage 82,22 % (vertical laying) and 72,59 % (horizontal laying). Whereas, the hatchability percentage was 59,45 % for vertical laying and 78,49 % for horizontal laying. In conclusion, laying hatching egg horizontally is more effective and efficient to reach optimum hatching. In addition, laying hatching egg horizontally express lower percentage of embryo mortality but express higher hatchability rather than vertical laying.
