Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays Saccharata) is one of the most consumed vegetable in Indonesia. The difference of harvest season and harvest age are influence to the viability and vigor quality of sweet corn seed. This research aims to determine the most effective harvest season and harvest age to maintain the quality viability and vigor of seed. This research was applied Randomized Block Design consisted by 2 factors. The first factor was harvest season with 2 levels, there were dry season (M1) and rainy season (M2). The second factor was sweet corn sweet by Harvest age of 90 days after plant (U1), 95 days after plant (U2), 100 days after plant (U3) and 105 days after plant (U4). The parameters of this research were viability (%), growth speed (%), growth simultaneously (%), and water content (%). The data was analyzed by using f Test (ANOVA) and followed by DMRT 5%. The result of this research shows that interaction between harvest season and harvest age is significant on the quality of seed viability and vigor. The best interaction on all parameters is harvest in dry season with harvest age of 105 days after plant (M1U4).
