Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effect of aflatoxin B1 contamination on feed by adding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to the blood profile of laying hens. A total of 80 laying hens of strain Isa Brown were divided into 4 treatments with 4 replications that used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The yeast and aflatoxin B1 levels given were P0 = feed control, P1 = contamined feed with 29 ppb AFB1 - yeast, P2 = contaminated feed with 29 ppb AFB1 + 0.5 gr / kg yeast, P3 = contaminated feed with 29 ppb AFB1 + 1 gr / kg yeast. The observed parameters included hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes, Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW), Leukocytes, Basophils, Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Platelets, and ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate). The obtained data were analyzed by using ANOVA and followed by the LSD test if there were significant differences. The results showed that aflatoxin B1 contamination of 29 ppb on feeds with the addition of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the values of hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes, Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW), Leukocytes, Basophils, Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Thrombocytes, ESR (Sedimentation Rate). It concluded that 29 ppb aflatoxin B1 contamination with the addition of 0.5 gr and 1 gr yeast Saccaromyces cereciviae on feeds did not cause any disturbance on blood profile of laying hens.
