Abstract
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are effective modern information systems used to map and integrate information, evaluate, so that it is easy to make decisions. GIS in this study was used in evaluating the suitability of laying hens in Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota.This study uses a survey method, as for the variables studied, namely the location, slope of land, access road, distance of cultivation with livestock and availability of water. The instrument used is questionnaire.The purpose of this study was to find out whether the distribution of laying hens in the District of Harau, Lima Puluh Kota was in accordance with government regulations and theoretical studies. The benefits of this research are helping the government and interested parties to obtain information, evaluate, and take policies for the development of laying hens.The results of the data obtained in the field for laying hens farms in the Harau sub-district are at an altitude of 425-600 masl with a land slope class of 90.9% in a flat class while 9.1% are in a sloping class. Road access is already available, for the distance between farms and settlements the average distance is 180,045 meterm and sufficient available water is available.
