Abstract
Pneumonia is an infection of the respiratory tract that causes the alveoli to fill with pus and fluid. The initial symptoms of pneumonia may vary depending on individual risk factors. A preliminary study conducted at Citra Husada Hospital Jember showed that pneumonia ranked fourth and was the highest infectious disease among the top ten hospitalization cases in 2024. This study aims to analyze the relationship patterns between risk factors and symptoms of pneumonia based on age group, sex, birth history, and comorbidities using the Apriori algorithm. This quantitative research was carried out using the RapidMiner tool. The dataset consisted of 740 inpatient cases of pneumonia recorded in 2024. From 692 patients after preprocessing with 15 symptom variables, the most common symptoms were cough (90%), fever (81%), and shortness of breath (55%). Association Rule analysis was performed using a minimum support of 1%, confidence levels of 50%–100%, and lift values greater than 1. The results showed varying patterns of symptom associations across age groups and sexes, as well as based on comorbid conditions and birth history.
