Abstract

White oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is one type of fungus that is widely grown in weathered wood, so that in the production process, baglog media is modified using wood sawdust waste plus bran as a starter for mycelium growth. The aim of the study was to see the effect of substitution of banana skin flour waste on rice bran on the growth of mycelium and the production of oyster mushrooms. The experiment used a randomized block design with the substitution treatment of banana peel flour with a level of 0% (T0 control), 25% (T1), 50% (T2), 75% (T3) and 100% (T4). The experiment was repeated 5 times. The observed variables are the average percent growth of mycelium growth every 3 days, the average diameter of mushroom and the length of the stem of the mushroom every time of harvest, and production (number of mushroom and the weight of mushrooms/baglog). The results showed that the addition of banana peel flour to 100% was able to replace the function of bran to the growth of mycelium, and the growth of the diameter of the oyster mushroom. The substitution of banana flour 75% still gave the same results as the control for the average length of mushroom stalk and substitution of banana flour 50% best for the number of oyster mushrooms per baglog and the weight of oyster mushrooms per baglog
