Abstract

Theproductionoftempeisthemostprevalentsmallandmedium-sizedenterprises(SMEs)inIndonesia.ThepopularityoftempeamongIndonesiansiscloselylinkedtoitshealthbenefits.Thehighconsumptionrateoftempeindicatessignificantpotentialfortheindustry,particularlyforSMEsinvolvedinitsproduction.Ahome-basedtempebusinessinTambakBerasVillage,JombangRegency,exemplifiessuchanSME.Despiteitsconsiderablepotential,observationsrevealthatthebusinessfacesseveralchallenges,includingtheabsenceofagoverninginstitutionoragency,poorfinancialmanagement,andalaborshortage.ThisstudyusesSWOTanalysistoformulateanappropriatedevelopmentstrategyfortempeproductioninTambakberasVillage,JombangRegency.TheresearchemploysdescriptiveandquantitativemethodstoanalyzedevelopmentstrategiesfortempeSMEs.Thedatawascollectedin2024inJombangRegency.Thepurposivesamplingwasusedtoselectthestudysample.Datawascollectedbyobservationandinterviews.Then,thedatawasanalyzedusingSWOTanalysisandtheEFASandIFASmatrix.TheresultsshowedthatthetempeinTambakberasVillage,JombangRegency,holdsastronginternalpositionwithaninternalkeyfactorscoreof1.10.TheEFASmatrixanalysisrevealsanexternalkeyfactorscoreof1.55,indicatingthatthebusinessiswell-positionedtocapitalizeonopportunitieswhilemanagingindustrythreats.BasedontheIEmatrixderivedfromtheEFASandIFASmatrices,thetempebusinessinTambakberasVillageislocatedinQuadrantI.Thispositioningsuggeststhatanaggressivestrategyisrecommendedtofostergrowth,giventhattheTempebusinesshasinternalstrengthsthatalignwithexternalopportunities.TheresearchimpliesthatthehomeindustryneedstoimproveHumanResourcescompetency,optimizefinancialmanagement,andexpandthetempebusiness..Keywords:developmentstrategy;EFAS;IFAS;SWOT;tempe.
