Abstract

Motto of “Ada Mutu Ada Price” needs to be socialized in farmer group especially peasant coffee of peoples, this matter because farmer sell coffee bean product in bulk yet there is classification of quality. This condition benefits the merchant but harms the farmers. To anticipate the situation, it is necessary to increase the added value of coffee products, especially from the quality of S to be roasted coffee beans. As an illustration the price of genuine powdered coffee at farm level ranges from Rp. 40.000, - / kg. When the quality of S coffee beans made into a coffee powder with a yield of 0.8 then from 1 kg of coffee beans produced 0.8 copies of the original powder. The gross added value the farmers earn per kg is around Rp. 20.000, -. This product diversification activities are in line with the 5 programs launched by the Government, among others: : (1) increase in farmer's income, (2) increase eskport and decrease imports, (3) multiply work activities at farm level, (4) advance industry, and (5) maintain national stability. The addition of activities at the farm level will provide employment opportunities for the surrounding community and minimize the looting of the more lively. The problems encountered in the "Sumber Rizki" and "Temporan Jaya" farmers' groups are as follows: (a) Lack of knowledge of farmer group members to diversify processed coffee products into roasted coffee, (b) S quality coffee beans by 20% of the total harvest potential to be developed into roasted coffee bean products, (c) Low price of S-size beans, (d) Clear market potential and price assurance from both local and overseas markets (Kediri and Madiun), resulting in added value from manufacture roasted coffee can be enjoyed by coffee farmers, (e) To make a rotary cylinder type coffee roasting machine with the required stainless steel technology and cost, (f) Roasted coffee beans have traditionally weaknesses, among others: the contamination of coffee beans with material fumes burn, little capacity and cooking quality is very diverse and (h) Unavailability of tools and methods for processing roasted coffee products. The targets of this IbM activity are: (a) Developing the potential of S quality beans or split by 20% of the total harvest into roasted coffee beans, (b) Produce roasted coffee bean products to obtain with gross added value of Rp. 20.000, - per kg, (c) Opening new job opportunities in the field of powder processing of at least 3-5 persons in a farmer group, (d) Filling of clear market potential and high price to obtain price incentive ) Introducing roasted coffee bean products in other farmer groups, so it can be used as a pilot for the development of other coffee farming groups. The outcomes of IbM activities are: (a) roasted coffee bean products, (b) packets of rotary cylinder type coffee roots with stainless steel with a capacity of 10-15 kg per process with a time of 10-20 minutes.
