Abstract

The demand for rice seeds continues to increase every year because rice is a staple food for most Indonesians. Therefore, a strategy is needed to increase rice seed production to meet this demand. One way to do this is by using granular organic fertilisers and the right rice varieties. This study aims to evaluate the effect of organic granule fertiliser on the growth and yield of rice seeds using two varieties, namely Ciherang and Inpari 32. The study was conducted from December 2021 to March 2022 at the experimental field of PT. Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Muncar Seed Production Unit, located at Jl. Raya Muncar No. 4-6, Kedungrejo Village, Muncar Sub-district, Banyuwangi Regency. This study employed a factorial randomised block design (RAK) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was the dose of organic granule fertiliser, consisting of four levels: D0 (no fertiliser/control), D1 (2.43 g/bucket), D3 (4.86 g/bucket), and D4 (7.92 g/bucket). The second factor was the variety type, consisting of two levels: V1 (Ciherang) and V2 (Inpari 32). Data were analysed using ANOVA and followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the application of organic granule fertiliser had a significant effect on plant height of 18 cm, as well as a very significant effect on the percentage of empty seeds, with a production yield of 8 tonnes per hectare. Meanwhile, the treatment of varieties showed a very significant effect on the number of tillers of 29.7 and the number of productive tillers of 25.51.
