Abstract

The use of fossil fuels as an energy source is increasing as the population increases, but the reserves of this energy source will deplete over time, to reduce the use of fossil fuels is to use alternative energy sources, namely biomass, one of the biomass that can be utilized is rice husk waste in the form of briquettes. Briquettes generally use adhesive from tapioca flour, but tapioca is a food ingredient. Banana stump has the potential to be used as a briquette adhesive as a substitute for tapioca. This study was conducted to make rice husk briquettes using banana pomace adhesive and analyze the characteristics produced based on SNI briquettes No. 01/6235/2000. Briquettes were made with 15%, 20%, and 25% banana stump adhesive. The best briquette composition is the 15% treatment with moisture content of 6.43%, ash content of 11.19%, volatile matter of 14.97%, the heating value of 4158.22 cal/g, fixed carbon of 68.36%. and density of 0.3904 gr/cm3.
