Abstract

Coffee has become one of Indonesia's main export commodities since Dutch colonization and continues to develop to this day. The lack of maintenance and inadequate fertilization is the cause of low production yields. Efforts to increase coffee productivity are being made through seedling and fertilization. Fertilization is divided into two types: organic and inorganic fertilizers. This study aims to determine the effect of applying inorganic fertilizer types with golden apple snail extract on the growth of robusta coffee seedlings (Coffea canephora Pierre ex A. Froehmer), conducted at the Practicum Land of Jember State Polytechnic from August 2023 to February 2024. The research method used is a Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of four treatment levels: P0 (control), P1 (Inorganic dose 1 gram urea, 2 grams Tsp, 2 grams KCl), P2 (Golden Apple Snail Extract every 4 weeks), and P3 (Golden Apple Snail Extract every 2 weeks). Fertilization is conducted by applying around 200 ml/polibag to the surface area of the coffee seedlings. The data from the study were analyzed using ANOVA with a Contrast test. The results at 16 MST (Weeks After Planting) indicate that the application of fertilizer types significantly affects leaf chlorophyll content, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight, and root length, but does not significantly affect seedling height and the number of leaf pairs. The treatment P123 (fertilization) generally gives the best results for the significantly affected parameters, with the treatment P2 (Golden Apple Snail Extract every 4 weeks) showing a very significant effect on leaf area, and P3 (Golden Apple Snail Extract every 2 weeks) on fresh weight. The type of fertilizer that can provide the best effect is the golden apple snail extract.
