Abstract

One effort to increase corn seed production is by defoliating the leaves and the right concentration of rice husk liquid smoke. This research aims to determine the effect of the amount of leaf defoliation and the concentration of rice husk liquid smoke on corn seed production. This research was carried out on research land from August to November 2023 in the Semboro area. This research used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with the BNT test at 1% and 5% levels for single treatments and with the DMRT test at 5% level for interactions. The first factor is leaf defoliation, namely D1 (pruning 3 leaves), D2 (pruning 4 leaves), D3 (pruning 5 leaves). The second factor is the concentration of rice husk liquid smoke, namely A1 (1% concentration), A2 (2% concentration), A3 (3% concentration). The results showed that leaf defoliation treatment had a very significant different effect on the parameters number of seeds/cobs, number of seeds/plant, weight of seeds/cobs, weight of seeds/plant, number of seeds/cobs, number of seeds/plant, weight of seeds/cobs, weight of seeds. /plant, seed production/plot, actual production, and potential production. The concentration of rice husk liquid smoke had a significantly different effect on the parameters of number of seeds/cobs, number of seeds/plants, number of seeds/cobs, number of seeds/plants. The interaction between leaf defoliation (pruning 4 leaves) and the concentration of rice husk liquid smoke (2% concentration) had a very significant different effect on the weight parameters of 1000 seeds.
