Abstract

The vanilla plant (Vanilla planifolia) is a fairly good plant to be developed in the plantation sector. Vanilla farmers prefer vegetative propagation by cuttings because it has many advantages compared to generative propagation. Red onion extract contains ZPT which has a role similar to IAA (Indole Acetic Acid). For this reason, it is hoped that this research will be able to determine the effect of vine age and the administration of shallot extract on the growth of vanilla seedlings from cuttings. This research was carried out in December 2021 – March 2022 at the PDP Sumber Wadung nursery, Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency. The method used was a factorial randomized block design (RAKF) with 2 factors. The first factor has 2 levels, namely vine age of 6 months and 12 months, for the second factor, shallot extract with concentrations of 0%, 25%, 50% and 75%. The results showed that giving shallot extract had an effect on shoot length, number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight of vanilla plant stover.
