Abstract

Sugarcane ureth pest (Lepidiota stigma F.) is the main pest that attacks sugarcane plants. ureth pest attacks can reduce plant production by up to 50%. One alternative for pest control is to use biopesticides from palm oil empty bunches. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of the use of biopesticide oil palm empty bunch on the population and mortality of sugarcane ureth pests in Rogotrunan Village, Lumajang Regency. This research method uses an Independent T Test Design using 2 different treatments, namely the control variable and the dependent variable. The parameters in this research are the population of ureth pests, mortality of ureth pests and physical changes of ureth pests. The results of the research showed that biopesticide palm oil empty bunch had an effect in reducing the population of sugarcane ureth pests and with a mortality percentage of 65%. The physical changes of ureth pests after applying biopesticide to empty oil palm fruit bunches are that the color changes to black with a soft texture, changes in body shape, curling and shrinking.
