Abstract
Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is the spontaneous rupture of the amniotic membranes without signs of labor such as the opening of the cervix due to contractions and the release of mucus mixed with blood. The incidence of premature rupture of membranes at RSU Srikandi IBI Jember has decreased in the last three years, but is always in the top 10 inpatient illnesses at RSU Srikandi IBI Jember. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for premature rupture of membranes, namely parity, age, history of PROM, history of genital infections, gestational age, occupation, uterine distension, and smoking based on inpatient medical record data at RSU Srikandi IBI Jember in 2023. This type of research is observational analytic with cross sectional research design. The data collection technique used simple random sampling with the research sample consisting of 168 samples from the exposed group and 168 samples from the unexposed group. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The research results showed that the variables were parity (p value = 1.000), age (p value = 0.342), history of PROM (p value = 0.000), history of genital infections (p value = 1.000), gestational age (p value = 0.677), occupation (p value = 0.749), uterine distension (p value = 0.005), smoker (p value = 1.000). The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between the history of PROM and uterine distension and the incidence of premature rupture of membranes. Meanwhile, parity, age, history of genital infections, gestational age, occupation, and smoking were not related to the incidence of premature rupture of membranes. It is hoped that hospitals will provide education regarding the factors that cause premature rupture of membranes, so that pregnant women can increase awareness of risk factors that can trigger premature rupture of membranes.
