Abstract

The difficulty factor in learning is a disruption to child development. Some types of learning difficulties that many are often nervous by early childhood, they have difficulty in reading and writing or other difficulties. To understand Latin reading and writing skills, an attractive and easy-to-apply form of learning is needed, the techniques used by students still follow a lot of patterns (pattern recognition) loose letters so that grade 1 students have difficulty remembering letters that have a negative impact on children's self-development, especially aspects language, social emotions and cognitive. The development of technology which is growing rapidly every day plays an important role in information. This can be used to add new methods in learning letter recognition for early childhood using computerized digital image processing using artificial intelligence using main component analysis and backpropagation which are expected to add learning methods and help them to read Latin letters. In this study, the accuracy obtained in the latin letter pattern recognition using the backpropagation neural network method was 82%
