Abstract

In Indonesia, sugar cane is the main raw material for the sugar industry. Currently, the government is trying to overcome the low sugar production. The low production is due to limited land for assessing the quality of the seeds, the cultivation process, the preparation of the seeds and the varieties used. The solution that can be done to overcome this problem is by using the Single Bud Planting (SBP) method of nursery techniques. This method is more efficient because it does not require a very large area of land. There is another alternative to increase seedling growth, namely using Natural Growth Regulatory Substances (ZPT), because the price is relatively cheap compared to providing growth regulators. The results showed that the application of natural ZPT had no effect on the growth of stem diameter, number of leaves, and plant height, but had an effect on the wet weight of the roots. The treatment that affected the wet weight of the roots was the concentration of D2 (10% natural PGR) with the heaviest mean wet weight of roots, namely 1.6 gr.
