Abstract

The Medical Certificate of Cause of Death is a medium for medical practitioners to make certification to show the course of disease events and determine the conditions directly causing the patient's death. Referring to the results of a preliminary study conducted by researchers in June 2022, Srikandi IBI General Hospital does not yet have a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death but uses a Death Certificate which still does not meet the standards World Health Organization and Huffman's theory. This study aims to analyze and design the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death at Srikandi IBI General Hospital. The method used is qualitative with data collection techniques of observation, documentation, interviews, and brainstorming. Respondents in this study were 8 people consisting of 2 doctors, 2 nurses, 1 head of medical records, and 3 medical records staff. Data analysis techniques consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Test the validity of the data used in triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the death certificate is not by the standards, namely the material used is 70 grams, there are no filling instructions, the distribution of patient data is not detailed, there is no cause of death into 2 parts, mortality patterns, and diagnosis codes, and there is no Standard Operational Procedure for filling out forms. Suggestions from researchers that Medical Certificates for Cause of Death can be applied, researchers then create electronic forms and dig deeper into medical aspects and for Hospitals to evaluate forms periodically and renew the structure of Medical Certificates of Cause of Death in Indonesia.
