Abstract

English becoming global language makes the need for translation raising as the lack of understanding of English in Indonesia is still high as ever. The translation activity is much needed especially in the education field because English as a global language affects the education field the most as references and material books are often written in English. Thus the product of translation will make the students have an easier time understanding their material. Translation can be interpreted as finding an equivalent meaning of a text from the source to the target language. Related to the translation, there is a process of translation and technic of translation or some will say a translation procedure. The translation process is a technical step used to conduct translation activities. The translation process is also often a part where the translation product is checked by a third party to ensure the quality of the translation is deemed readable to the public. Hence, the translation process is how the translator produces a text from one language into another equivalent language with a standardized quality for the public. On the other hand, translation techniques are more precise and closely connected to practical steps and problem-solving in translation. These translation processes and techniques serve as the backbone for any translation activities. From the explanation mentioned above, the writer decided to use the translation process from Suryawinata and combine it with the procedure of Molina and Albir to translate the book entitled "Software Engineering A Practitioner's Approach: The Seventh Edition On Chapter 12". Hence, the writer went through four steps of process translation proposed by Suryawinata: analysis, transferring, reconstructing, and revision and evaluation. While following the steps proposed by Suryawinata the writer also uses the procedure by Molina and Albir such as literal translation and calque in translating the material. A professional proofreader and an x expert in the field of the material checked the finished draft and gave feedback regarding of the product. Then after all the checking the process the product has met the standard of translation product and the end product is in the form of e-book.
