Abstract

One of the Efforts to increase the production of eggplant vegetables is to improve the physiological quality of seeds. The physiological quality of seeds can be improved by priming. This study aims to determine the effect of KNO concentration3 and aeration in eggplant seed priming on physiological quality and vegetative growth of seedlings. This research was conducted at the Seed Processing Laboratory of the Jember State Polytechnic in August-November 2022. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in the Laboratory and Randomized Block Design (RBD) in nurseries with two treatment factors, the first factor being KNO concentration3 consisting of 0% (K1), 1% (K2), and 2% (K3). The second factor is aeration (A1) and non-aerated (A2), with each factor being repeated 4 times. The data obtained was then processed using the F-ANOVA test and continued with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at 5% error rate. The results showed that the concentration of KNO3 2% gave the best results on the germination parameter of 87.63%, the average germination time (MGT) was 4.04 days, and the vigor index was 66%. The aeration treatment gave the best results on the vigor index observation parameters of 62.75%, MGT 4.17 days, and dry stover weight of 5.27 grams. The interaction of the two treatments gave the best results in the observed parameter of growth speed of 13.54%, KNO concentration3 0% and aeration gave the best value for stem diameters of 21 hst 3.11 mm and 35 hst of 6.96 mm.
