Abstract

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is a highly contagious animal disease that is most feared in the world and affects all hoofed or split hoofed animals, one of which is cattle. This disease can cause very high economic losses, for economic losses in the form of livestock deaths and high morbidity rates, trade barriers, and community unrest. The limited number of experts or veterinarians and the difficulty of interacting directly with experts in the field of livestock diseases is an obstacle for farmers in solving FMD problems in cattle. Therefore, an expert system is needed to diagnose foot and mouth disease (FMD) in cattle which can make it easier for cattle breeders to determine the type of FMD in cattle. PMK expert system development using the web-based Certainty Factor method. This expert system can input expert knowledge into the system so that breeders can solve problems like an expert. Accuracy results were carried out by comparing the results of manual and system diagnoses performed by experts on 2 types of foot and mouth disease in cattle, in order to obtain an accuracy of 90%. This expert system can be used to diagnose foot and mouth disease in cattle based on selected symptoms.
