Abstract

Bile acid is sterol acid which is synthesized from cholesterol in the liver. It is the main component of bile, which has the role of increasing the absorption of fat from the intestine. This study aimed to determine the effects of bile acid addition on feed to the physical quality of layer chicken egg and to know the best level of its addition. Completely Randomized Design data analysis with 4 treatments and 4 replications was used in this study. Each replication consisted of 4 layers by the age of 29 weeks so that it needed 64 layers strain Isa Brown. The bile acid level given was P0 = Control feed without bile acid, P1 = 0.5 g/kg of feed, P2 = 1.0 g/kg of feed, P3 = 1.5 g/kg of feed and addition of 1% oil/treatment. The parameters in this research were weight of egg, egg white index, yolk index, haugh unit thickness of egg shell, and color of yolk. The cumulative data of 32-33 weeks experiment were analyzed statistically using ANOVA test and showed that there were no significant differences (P> 0.05). From this study it can be incuded that the addition of 0.5 gram of the bile acid to the level of 1.5 gram in the ration did not effect the physical quality of the egg.
