Abstract
Casting is a process of re-melting material to become a machine component. Factors that influence material strength are aging temperature.. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of aging temperature on the bending strength of cast aluminum waste piston, by varying the aging temperature. The aging temperature heating was carried in Automotive Laboratory of Jember State Polytechnic and Biosain Laboratory of Jember State Polytechnic, while bending testing was carried out in the Machine Laboratory Malang State Polytechnic. This research uses materials from supra X 110 cc pistons waste as casting raw materials. The tool uses to heat specimens is a furnace with an aging temperature treatment that is uses is 175oC, 185oC, 195oC. The bending test is carried out to determine the maximum stress on the specimen. The maximum value of bending stress from the highest to the lowest value is shown in the aging temperature of 195oC at 726.66 N / mm2, then at the aging temperature of 185oC at 608.98 N / mm2 and the temperature aging at 175oC at 458.94 N / mm2. The higher aging temperature will increase the maximum stress value of bending or increase bending strength.
